hite Lake is about a 60-minute drive northwest of Ottawa. It is best approached from Ottawa traveling west on Hwy 17 and Hwy 2. White Lake is a complex lake with several distinct basins. It is relatively fertile with a surface area of about 5,823 acres but a maximum depth of about 60 feet. Shallow bays of the lake abound with aquatic weeds but there are extensive rocky shorelines strewed with large rocks, boulders and solid granite. Several camps and marinas allow launching of boats for a fee. A public boat launching ramp is available off Hwy 511. Today, it is an isolated location. |

Fishing White Lake
Game Fish species in the lake include: largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye (pickerel, doré), northern pike, muskellunge, yellow perch, rock bass, pumpkinseed, bluegills, and brown bullhead (Species list from 1969 survey of MNR). White Lake has been known as a walleye lake- in the past- because the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources regularly stocked walleye fingerlings into it. However, White Lake does not have an open area with sufficient depth to allow a large population of naturally spawning walleyes to exist. Today, White lake is a far better largemouth bass and northern pike lake. |
