HOW TO NEGOTIATE THROUGH THESE GALLERY PAGES This map of Canada, below,
shows the three areas covered in this Web site, "THE
BABY FISHES OF CANADA". They include: Barkley Sound,
British Columbia; Freshwater Lakes in southern Ontario; and the Gulf
of St. Lawrence in the Maritime region. If you want, for example,
to view baby fish from freshwater lakes, select Freshwater Lakes,
then you may select various species of fish that live in freshwater
lakes. If you select
an image of one species from Freshwater Lakes, you may then
go to a page which shows a lateral view of the species' baby, the
common and scientific name of the species, and a brief description
of the early life of the species. By selecting an image on the page,
you will go to the next page which shows three views of the illustrations
available for that species, as well as data concerning the collection
of the specimens which are illustrated. Finally, by selecting an
image on the page, you may see the illustration in an enlarged format.
It is here that you may view the detailed and intricate melanophore
patterns for any particular species. Selections other than Freshwater
Lakes are
Barkley Sound
(Pacific
Ocean) and Gulf of St. Lawrence (Atlantic Ocean).
