Spawning Season of Adult PACIFIC SAND LANCE: Spawning occurs during November to February.
Where PACIFIC SAND LANCE Eggs are Found: Eggs are found along shallow shorelines in areas of strong currents.
Characteristics of Eggs: Eggs of PACIFIC SAND LANCE are demersal, adhesive, range from 0.67 - 0.91mm in diameter with an oil globule, 0.26mm in diameter.
Size of Babies at Hatching: These babies hatch at a range of 6 - 7mm in length.
Early Movements of PACIFIC SAND LANCE Babies: Baby Sand lance hatch and move from the bottom singly but later move in large aggregations and/or schools along shores. Baby sand lance were captured in small numbers (less than 5 per 10 min. tow) in late February among the Deer Island Group, Barkley Sound. (Ref. 18).
