EARLY LIFE HISTORY of ARROW GOBIES:
Spawning Season of Adult ARROW GOBIES: Spawning is from February to June.
Where ARROW GOBY Eggs are Found: Eggs are sown in intertidal areas.
Characteristics of Eggs: Eggs are non-adhesive, demersal, 0.7 - 0.85 mm in diameter with many oil globules.
Size of Babies at Hatching: Babies hatch at 2.7 - 3.8 mm in length.
Early Movements of ARROW GOBY Babies: Baby ARROW GOBIES hatch and move from the shallow bottom singly and later move in groups in the open waters of the harbour. Baby and juvenile ARROW GOBIES were captured on the 4th of July in numbers from 1 to 21 individuals in 6 min. tows in collections in Ucluelet Inlet and only in one 6 min. tow in Tofino Inlet (Ref. 18). They were never collected in Barkley Sound.
